Anandtech names ST61G4 champion of quiet, cool
Anandtech, the brain child of prodigy Anand Lal Shimpi, has benchmarked the Shuttle XPC ST61G4. Discovering the value of the ST61G4’s included Silent X technology and excellent onboard graphics, Anandtech was overwhelmed by this “Super Quiet, Super Cool” SFF computer.
“[The ST61G4] is the new champion of quiet,” expounded Wesley Fink, Anandtech’s reviewer. “The redesign of the ICE cooling system and the new Silent X power supply clearly work very well in keeping normal operation to very quiet levels.”
The XPC ST61G4 is based on ATI’s world-class RADEON 9100 IGP chipset. With built-in support for dual-channel DDR400 memory, 800MHz FSB CPUs, onboard IGP and 8X AGP graphics cards, this XPC represents the "solid-gold" for integration and value.
“There is a little-mentioned WOW factor here in that you can actually run 3 displays … [t]hree displays being driven by the tiny Shuttle box is impressive to see!!" boasted Fink. “[Also] as a new chassis, we consider the G4 a tremendous success with Shuttle, once again, the quietest SFF that we have tested."
